This moment...

After a fun day at the Imperial War museum we are settling in for the evening with

:: Lj discovering the electronics box

MJ having a rest beside Daddy while keeping his favourite, old and new toys close.

Me crotcheting a Baby Afgan blanket with left over balls of yarn.

Saturdays are good...even when it is cold and raining outside.

The Ostrich

Today the sun shine was uninterrupted by clouds. When that happens...I have a spring in my step and a smile on my face. This results in filing, tidying, cleaning and throwing out. Even tonight after a day of activity I'm going through files on our computer. Filing and deleting. That's how I came across a link to this video which I had noted awhile back.

The Ostrich is beautifully crafted and choreographed. I would love to know how the artist interprets the story. For me it is a warning to not stick my head in the sand. To embrace life and all that it holds. Watch and enjoy.

He makes me smile

All was quiet upstairs. Quietness is sometimes as loud as an alarm bell, signalling that something naughty is taking place but not today. In the quietness I crept up the stairs to find MJ standing on his step with his nose in his book shelves. I asked him what he was doing and without looking as me, rather matter of fact, he replied 'I'm sorting my books'. He sounded just like his father. He was busily re shelving his books in such a tidy way. I left him to it but couldn't help take a photo to remind me of my 3 yr old son who sometimes acts so grown up.

Bags of fun!

I have been meaning to make these simple storage bags for MJ and Ljs room for awhile now. I wanted one for pj's, school uniform and tomorrows clothes. The aim is to make MJ more independent in getting dressed and undressed. He can easily do it but still wants me to do it for him. It also means that if anyone other than me is putting them to bed or getting them up on a morning it should be a simple process.

They were simple and quick to make. I cut up a duvet cover I found in a charity shop over a year ago. Hopefully in time I will sew on 'pj's' etc but as yet i'm not sure what way I will do that. The hangers we bought in IKEA.

More peas please!

While cooking tonights dinner, salmon risotto, MJ was complaining of being hungry and Lj was whinging. In order to get some quiet I offered them some frozen peas which were waiting to be added to the risotto. To my amazement they began devouring them. MJ was even reluctant to share with Lj! If only they satisfied my cravings!

I think I will be adding frozen peas to my list of handy snack foods!

Also great to encourage Lj to use her pinching fingers!

When taking the photos of the peas MJ thought I might also like to take a photo of him on his new bike which he got from our local toy library this morning. He hasn't been off it all afternoon!
